Day Zero–101 in 1001

by graceelena on January 19, 2012

On March 23, 2010 I signed up for the Day Zero Project. I had seen a few lists by other bloggers and felt inspired. I immediately made a list of about 50 things I wanted to do in the next two and a half years. Then–I got stuck. I slowly added more tasks and then eventually added “finish this list.” There are 335 days left. 25 tasks completed. 6 tasks in the process and 6 that will NOT be completed. And, only 93 tasks.

Knowing that I still have so far to go is a bit daunting. The upside is that a lot has changed in almost two years. In March 2010 I thought it was feasible to get a cat by December 2012. Not anymore. The reason? law school. Something I was uncertain would happen so quickly.

Now I am feeling a bit of pressure to complete more things on my list. Number one, to actually finish the list. You can see my list here. I am keeping the tasks that will not be completed on the list. They represent where I was at the time of its creation. The hardest part of this list is thinking of things that are realistic but not too easy. Once I make a decision I stick to it and generally accomplish new goals quickly. This makes it difficult to make a list of 101 things that seem substantial. Maybe that’s the problem. Maybe the last nine tasks need to be something that may seem easy to me but are still important. I guess deep cleaning my entire apartment before the new year could have been on there, but I thought of it as a given–not something worthy of the list.

This is where you come in. What are nine additional things I can add to my list?

Any suggestions? What is on your list?

You’ve inspired me! Something on my list will be to buy a juicer.

I’m glad I could be inspirational! Juicers seem to be popular with my friends right now. I have a kitchen aid and they sell juicer attachments. I may have to look into it. Looking forward to reading your list, lady.

I’m on my second 101 list, having finished my first one (well, 69% of it anyway) last September. When trying to come up with items for my lists, I found it helpful to scavenge what other people did. The Day Zero website is a good starting point! I’ve got both my lists linked on my blog, not sure if anything would be interesting to you, but feel free to “steal” :)

Your lists were super helpful! I just read both of them and am now at 99 things! What’s even better is I didn’t just take what you wrote. Your goals inspired my own goals. WIN! Also, Congratulations on passing the bar!

Adding “finish this list” is genius.
